This mediator is a lawyer, a Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialist in Mediation, a Nationally Accredited Mediator with more than 25 years’ experience, and a legal practitioner with 25 years’ experience in working in rural and remote areas, who completed articles in a country town, and who has worked as a solicitor in Queensland since 1989. The mediator is a member of the Queensland Law Society’s Alternative Dispute Resolution committee. The mediator is also a member of the James Cook University’s Conflict Management and Resolution Program’s External Advisory Committee. The mediator is an experienced farm debt mediator of matters under the Queensland Farm Finance Strategy. As an experienced mediator Jim is well placed to assist the parties to prepare for mediation. Characteristics of his approach to farm business debt mediation include effective liaison with farm finance counsellors, private accountants, and legal representatives of all parties, and initiating queries of and discussions with the other parties to identify facts and contentions in advance to maximize the effectiveness of the mediation event. Although the mediator’s practice is based in the Far North, Jim travels and is in a position to undertake mediations throughout Queensland.
