On 28 July 2026 the Minister for Primary Industries announced new Queensland drought declarations and the reinstatement of Drought Carry-on Finance Loans and Emergency Drought Assistance Loans for eligible Queensland primary producers. Full details of these loans will be available once administrative arrangements are finalised. John Lee
John was born in a Western Queensland town, and spent much time in his youth working on sheep, cattle and wheat properties. He has worked as a stick picker on newly cleared land, he has ploughed and scarified land and he carted wheat after harvesting to the nearest wheat dump.
He has had experience working on sheep and cattle properties, from being a tar boy in a shearing shed, to mustering on horseback. He has been a general hand on a pig farm, and has been involved in constructing many kilometres of fencing.
John's lived experience allows him an understanding of the relentless nature of the challenges that face operators of rural businesses. He has mediated numerous QRIDA mediations.
