To mark the launch of QRIDA’s 2026 Rainfall Chart, I’m sharing five ways Queensland primary producers can make every drop of water count with QRIDA’s concessional finance.
Water efficiency on farms is important to not only enhance long-term sustainability by improving resilience to droughts, but also to boost profitability by reducing associated costs and improving crop quality and yields.
Here’s five ways Queensland primary producers can improve water efficiency on farms with QRIDA’s
concessional Sustainability Loans:
- Install water and fodder storage: Construct or improve water storage such as tanks and storage dams and fodder storage such as sheds and bunkers.
- Develop additional water supplies: Increase water supplies by investing in additional watering points.
- Upgrade to efficient irrigation systems: Invest in new more efficient water infrastructure to improve and maintain water supplies.
- Protect water quality: Improve water quality through measures such as controlling contaminated run-off.
- Implement crop rotation: Diversify into other crops that can be rotated to improve soil health.
